Campfire Cooking: Cinnamon Biscuits

Nov 25, 2022 | 0 comments

This recipe is too good not to share. I can not be credited with its origin. That honor goes to the amazingly talented Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit owner, Carrie Morey. It was recently published in Garden & Gun Magazine on November 9. Let’s just say as sweet biscuits go, this is divine. It is everything you want in a sweet biscuit with a hot cup of coffee or tea: warm cinnamon on a crisp morning is just perfection.

But how do you achieve perfect biscuit baking while camping? Especially if you are missing an oven? I admit I baked the biscuits ahead of time. I let them cool completely, wrapped them in foil (a single layer) and took them with me. I also took a sandwich size baggie of the cinnamon topping and a small container of the cinnamon butter. At camp, I opened my foil wrapped goodness, sprinkled on the cinnamon topping, warmed my foil wrapped biscuits on indirect heat at the campfire, and when warmed through ate them with the cinnamon butter. I was in heaven. And, I hope you enjoy as much as I did.
