What started out as a thrift shop find led me to an amazing discovery. Quite simply, campfire popcorn is the most delicious form of popcorn you can possibly eat! At a Girl Camper camping trip recently, a fellow girl camper showed us how to make this perfect camping treat. Jennifer was kind enough to share her fool-proof campfire popcorn method with us. Here you go!
You’ll need:
A Campfire Popcorn Popper
3 T cooking oil (vegetable, corn or canola work best)
1/3 C popcorn (white is the tenderest and sweetest)
Salt to taste
A nice hot fire – with flames for best result
Add oil and popcorn to the popper, allow the popper to come to a high temperature, then shake the popper until the popping stops. Carefully pour the popped corn into a large bowl and salt liberally. No butter needed, but can be added as a personal preference.
That’s it! Give it a try next time you’re camping when you’re allowed to have a campfire. You can get your popcorn popper from Amazon or most outdoor stores.
