Enjoy a little Holiday Magic in Leavenworth

Find a holiday fantasy land when you visit Leavenworth

You may have been to Leavenworth in the past, but it still can’t be beat for a place to get into the holiday mood. Make a trip to enjoy a little holiday magic in Leavenworth. Start the year off right with a visit in December, around Christmas or New Year. The Leavenworth Village lights turn on at Thanksgiving and will stay lit through Valentine’s Day! When the Christmas lights are up, this small slice of Bavaria quickly gets you into the holiday spirit. This is a much-loved and popular Pacific Northwest tradition featuring wonderful and authentic Bavarian foods, handmade arts and crafts, and local gifts. It’s a great place to complete your holiday shopping and decorating, but offers wonderful outdoors experiences too!

Experience the snow on skis or showshoes

For adventure, check out the trails at Plain Valley Ski Trails, or Lake Wenatchee State Park for snowshoeing and Nordic skiing. If you have never hit the trails or slopes, you can rent some gear and get a lesson at one of the many outfitters in the area. If you are a downhill skier, take a look at Leavenworth Ski Hill, Stevens Pass or Mission Ridge.

Get outside and enjoy the winter weather

If you want to join a group and learn all about the local wildlife, check out a cross-country trek with the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery. Naturalists will take you on trails over the river and through the snow while you are both educated and entertained. If you’d like a short walk that you can share with your favorite pooch, Blackbird Island-Waterfront park is a beautiful, level walk where your dog is welcome, as long as you use a leash.

After your adventure, eat and drink your fill of beer, bratwurst and pretzels while pretending you’re on a European vacation. It’s worth taking the time to enjoy a little holiday magic in Leavenworth.
