An Inspiring Journey
In April 2025, a group of adventurous Girl Campers embarked on a road trip through the heart of the American Southwest. We visited the stunning landscapes of Southern California, the red rocks of Southern Nevada and the incomparable Big 5- Utah National Parks. As we embarked, there was a sense of excitement and anticipation for what the month long journey would bring.
The Adventure begins….
Our adventure began at the iconic Joshua Tree National Park. We hiked among striking desert landscapes and enjoyed the tranquility of vast open spaces. While camping in Death Valley, we experienced the park’s unique beauty, from mesmerizing sand dunes to dramatic cliffs and canyons. Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada is renowned for its stunning red sandstone formations, ancient petroglyphs, and vibrant landscapes. Here we explored the park’s unique geological features and enjoyed hiking trails that offered breathtaking views of the fiery rock formations.
The journey continued to Utah’s famous Big 5 national parks, starting with the breathtaking canyons of Zion National Park. We camped amidst towering cliffs and lush greenery along the Virgin River. Some hiked the Narrows, biked the Zion Canyon road, and took a trail ride to the Court of the Patriarchs. At Bryce Canyon National Park, we were in awe at the stunning view of the hoodoos, tall and thin spires of rock that create a surreal landscape. Rainbow Point at an elevation of 9115 ft provided breathtaking views for 150 miles.
Our journey took us to the striking desert landscapes of Capitol Reef National Park where we hiked the famed Hickman Bridge and tasted the splendid homemade pies at the Gifford Homestead. The journey continued through the majestic red rock formations of Arches National Park, where we marveled at delicate arches and towering spires that seemed to touch the sky. Hiking to the famed Delicate Arch was a highlight of our visit. Continuing the adventure, we headed to Canyonlands National Park, Utah’s largest national park, to explore the diverse landscape of dramatic cliffs, mesas, and ancient petroglyphs that tell stories of the past.

No Wrong Way to Camp Like A Girl
The women who participated came from diverse backgrounds and many different states. Each brought their own unique camping styles to the trip. Some preferred the comfort of RVs, equipped with modern amenities providing a home-like experience even in the wilderness. Others embraced the simplicity of tent camping, enjoying the closeness to nature and the thrill of setting up their own shelters. There were those who opted for van or car camping, driving their vehicles right up to the campsite and enjoying the convenience of having all their gear within reach. Despite facing adverse weather conditions, including unexpected storms and chilly nights, Girl Campers remained resilient and supportive, turning challenges into opportunities for growth and camaraderie. These women embodied the Girl Camper motto that there is no wrong way to camp like a girl!
Women empowering Women
Throughout the highs and lows of this adventure, Girl Campers supported and uplifted each other. Many nights were spent under the star-studded sky, sharing engaging conversations around a campfire and forging bonds that would last a lifetime.
By the end of the journey, we had explored the wonders of several parks in the American Southwest and formed unbreakable friendships. The road trip became a testament to the power of shared experiences and the magic of discovering new horizons together. The memories of this incredible adventure would forever be etched in our hearts, a reminder of the lifelong friendships made on the open road.

A Girl Camper Guide perspective
As the guide, the road trip was a profound experience of unity, friendship, and women empowerment. Watching the women bond over shared challenges and triumphs brought me pride and joy. Strangers transformed into lifelong friends, supporting and uplifting each other through every twist and turn. The camaraderie and mutual respect that developed was truly inspiring. I knew these connections would endure long after the trip ended.
