The first several months of the year are usually filled with Outdoor and RV shows. Sadly, with the Covid virus still around, few are being held this year. But with Covid numbers low in South Dakota and proper precautions being taken, the virus didn’t stop the Black Hills Sports Show & Outdoor Expo from happening. And what better thing to do than to go to the Show when the outside temps were -20 degrees.
The Black Hills Show had a decent number of new campers to look at considering there are only a handful of camper dealers in the area. Unfortunately, there were only one or two small, light weight towables. But we did see some really great design trends.
Boring BROWN is on its way out! THANK GOODNESS! We saw a lot of white cabinetry. We even saw a couple of campers with black cabinetry.
We over heard many comments from people that the campers were nicer than their own homes. We saw a lot of solid surface counter tops, real tile backsplashes, modern looking cabinets, fireplaces, pre wired for wi-fi and pre installed backup cameras. Televisions and refrigerators were huge.
Two behemoth campers (one was a 39’ bumper pull) had “second” stories! Stairs led up to two spacious loft areas.
Bunk beds to accommodate the boom in families camping were prevalent. As were outdoor kitchen units.
Some bathrooms rivaled those in new custom homes.
But the most surprising design element, were hidden pantries. How fun are those!!
I can’t wait to see what 2021 brings for the camping season and what new things we will see in campers in 2022. Maybe more color???? A Girl Camper can only hope.
