A question I am often asked is how am I able to find overnight parking ?
I have a few favorite apps on my phone that I use for overnight parking. Depending on where I want to stay I use different ones.
If I am looking to stay in a more off the grid , woodsy , or rural area my go to app is ” iOverlander”. There are spots in locations all over the US pinned by other travelers who stayed in that location with a short review on how there stay was or how they got to that location.
If I am looking to find a quick stay , like a Walmart , Cracker-barrel or Cabela’s I use the app ” Allstays”. They have a filter on the app that you can chose where you are looking to stay and in what area and it shows what stores are overnight friendly and which are not.
If you are looking for a unique stay , ” Harvest Host ” is another great app to find Winery , Museum and farm parking .
When I find a location I want to stay I always search the town on areavibes.com , it gives an A – F rating on the crime in the town and depending on the rating I will chose if I want to stay or find another location. It is a great website to use if you are in an area you are unfamiliar with and just want to take an extra safety precaution.
I recently used ” All Stays ” while on my Pennsylvannia trip and ended up finding an awesome Walmart to stay at with an insane view! Who Said Walmart can’t be an awesome camp spot?
