With the weather finally breaking here in New York , it can get a bit tricky finding a camping spot here on Long Island especially with beach access. I am often able to find spots through cancellations on the Suffolk online camping reservation system. 

I was able to score a spot at Smith Point Campground which happens to be my personal favorite park on the island. If you love camping and being a very short walk from the beach, this campground is the way to go.  If you are a kayaker you can bring your kayak to the bay which is in the same area of the campground, and the ocean is right past the bathrooms. 

For this trip I brought my van and loved seeing the deer come up to my back door. The cool ocean breeze is one of my favorite parts about staying here , and why I love keeping my back doors open. 

All spots have electric and water hookup , but the top tier ( 200 wing ) has electric , water and sewer. They also have a dump station available for campers to use. 

If you are looking for a beach get away , this is the place to go !
