Minnesota Girl Campers Take on the Girl Camper Camporee 2025 in Granby, Colorado!
Three of your Minnesota Girl Campers made the journey to the Girl Camper Camporee 2025 in Granby, Colorado—and what an unforgettable experience it was! With over 100 women from across the country gathering at Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountains, the weekend was filled with friendship, learning, laughter, and a whole lot of fun.
Nestled in the stunning Rocky Mountains, Sun Outdoors is located two hours by car from Denver International Airport. We flew into Denver and rented a car—the shuttle picked us up right from the terminal. We treated ourselves to an upgrade and drove a Hyundai Palisade, which was the perfect vehicle for our mountain adventure.
The drive to Granby is not for the faint of heart—with steep mountain grades and hairpin switchbacks—but it’s absolutely worth it for the breathtaking views. Pro tip: take it slow and enjoy the scenery. And not so fun fact—Granby is known for a bizarre event in 2004, when a bulldozer rampage made national headlines.

Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountains Resort is more than just an RV park—it’s a destination. The gated resort felt incredibly safe and welcoming, and the staff was fantastic. We stayed in one of their adorable tiny-home-style cabins, which came fully equipped with a king bed, a pull-out sofa, and a loft with a queen mattress. The kitchenette had everything we needed, including a sink, fridge, microwave, and plenty of dishes and utensils.

The resort itself is packed with amenities:
- Heated pool and hot tub
- Fitness center
- Pickleball and basketball courts
- Dog park
- General store
- Kids’ activity center
- Walking trails
- Unique lodging options like Airstreams and covered wagons!
We met up with our roomie, another Minnesota Girl Camper who arrived by train on Amtrak —yes, Granby has a train station right in town! Just be aware that the station building is closed and local transportation like Uber can be hit-or-miss.
After settling in, we joined the rest of the Girl Camper crew for check-in, played some pin bowling, and enjoyed the mountain air from the patio of the on-site bar and grill. The Camporee was perfectly planned—a great mix of scheduled activities and downtime to explore or just relax. You will not meet a stranger at a Girl Camper event – everyone is friendly and welcoming.
Some of the inspiring sessions we attended included:
- Thru-hiking tips
- RVing with dogs
- Self-defense for woman travelers
- A fascinating talk on Dr. Susie Anderson, a legendary local figure
- And a heartfelt speech from Girl Camper founder Janine Pettit, reminding us all why we’re part of this incredible sisterhood.
One of the highlights of the weekend was the Camper Tour, where fellow Girl Campers opened up their rigs for everyone to explore. It was such a fun way to see how creative the Girl Campers are! We toured everything from beautiful vintage campers to a uniquely painted RV, and even a Star Wars-themed camper that stole the show. Each setup was unique and full of personality—just like the women who own them.

We also loved browsing the Girl Camper Store, where I picked up a new Girl Camper t-shirt and a tabletop-sized Girl Camper cornhole game. A Silent Auction helped raise funds for Girl Camper’s nonprofit partner, The Hold You Foundation—raising funds for families struggling with the emotional and financial toll of a child’s critical illness.
During our free time, we took a scenic drive through Rocky Mountain National Park, climbing all the way to the Alpine Visitor Center—the highest elevation visitor center in the U.S. We crossed the Continental Divide, where water flows to the Pacific on one side and the Atlantic on the other. Altitude sickness kicked in a bit at the top, so we took it easy and enjoyed the views.

We also visited Hot Sulphur Springs, home to 20+ naturally heated pools. The magnesium pool was a favorite among Girl Campers for its relaxing and health-boosting benefits, but my personal favorite was the pool with the little cascading waterfall—pure bliss.

Some of the weekend’s standout moments included:
- The hilarious Mrs. Roper Romp—we all dressed up in our best caftans to honor the Three’s Company icon!
- Capture the Flag – teams of Girl Campers racing to complete crazy tasks like matching the skat with the animal!
- A fun Bingo Fundraiser for The Hold You Foundation

Mark your calendars! The 2026 Girl Camper Camporee will be held beachfront in the Gulf Coast of Texas, in April 2026. You won’t want to miss it!
