I started kayaking because I needed a low impact way to stay active and it is fun. My kayak almost always goes with me camping. It is a great solo or group activity and easy to learn.
I suggest you borrow someone’s while you are camping to see if you like it before you purchase one. There is usually a lake or river wherever you go camping so I load it up with all my camping gear. Find a calm cove in a lake and get out and practice. There are many types and lengths of kayaks to purchase. I have a sit on top that is lightweight and short enough to haul in a SUV.
My newest favorite is Oru Inlet Sit in Kayak that folds up. It weighs 20lbs so it’s lightweight and easy to handle but study, with a weight capacity of 275 lbs. It is a bit pricey, but they have installment payment plans and the quality is outstanding so you know it will last! Whatever you pick consider how you will transport it to take camping. There are so many options so get you kayak and let’s go!
