Favorite Things: Camco Brass Quick Hose Connector

Nov 6, 2022 | 1 comment

If you want to start a conversation at a campground, just ask this question: “What’s your favorite upgrade you have made to your camper?”.  Everyone has one!  It might be something complicated like “I pulled out the dinette and replaced it with…”. Or it can be something simple like “I added a non-slip mat to the steps.” But I promise you that everyone has a story to tell about their favorite upgrade and why. This is my story of why I added a Camco Brass Quick Hose Connector to my camper.

Here’s mine: I have a Little Guy Mini Max which I take all over the place and I absolutely love. One thing I’m not a huge fan of is the water hook up.  It’s in this little side compartment. And it’s hard to get your hand in there to hook up the hose. It’s even harder to get both hands in there to disconnect the hose.

I dealt with the little compartment for a year until the trip where it went all wrong. When it came time to break down my camp, I could not get the hose to un-hook.  I tried everything I could think of, but it was just not happening!  So, I asked a friend to help, and she tried for over half an hour. She didn’t get any farther than I did.  Then I walked up to the Ranger station and asked for help but after 20 minutes, he gave up.  The guy at the next site came over to help but again, after 20 minutes, he gave up. He offered to get a knife to cut the hose.  Since over 2 hours had passed, I was close to tears of frustration, and I just wanted to head home.  I told him to cut it!

Before I left, the guy at the next site admitted that had happened to him before. He suggested I get a quick connect hose adaptor.  He also said the drive home would probably vibrate the hose piece loose.  When I got home, I was able to disconnect the hose piece with one hand.  I also immediately ordered a Camco Brass Quick Hose Connector (https://amzn.to/3UcRMFc) and a new hose (https://amzn.to/3DgCbOE).  The quick hose connector cost me $11.12, and it has saved me hours of frustration.  It is absolutely the best money I have ever spent. Especially for a device so simple it boggles the mind that I didn’t get one sooner.

If you see me talking to my Camco Brass Quick Hose Connector, you can feel safe and know that I’m not insane.  I just know the value of a device that does a good job! And I don’t want to forget how much I appreciate it or how much easier it makes my life.

I’ll see you out there because I am going place, doing things.
