Located in downtown Hill City, SD, this long time dining favorite in the Black Hills will not disappoint. Built in 1886, this historic landmark has a reputation of great food. Family owned & operated for over 3 decades, it is a showplace of Hill City.
Decked out in mellow old world charm and friendly staff, its diverse lunch menu features ethnic European and contemporary dishes. The pear & fig salad topped with chicken is one of my favorites because its laced with homemade almond brickle. Their dinner menu is streamlined serving your choice of bacon wrapped filet mignon or kaes spaetzle primavera (German dumplings & Swiss cheese). Each come with a quarter wedge of lettuce with some of the best ranch dressing you’ve ever had and a humongous piece of Texas toast. They have an excellent beer and wine menu to compliment your lunch or dinner.
But what you really come to the Alpine Inn for is their homemade desserts. My favorite is the Napoleon. A French pastry layered with Bavarian Cream filling, lightly iced and drizzled with chocolate. Their tiramisu and various cheesecakes are also popular options. Don’t miss this classic restaurant in the Hills. Be sure to visit their website and facebook page for their latest updates. And check out the cute stores in Hill City for your shopping fix.
