Southern Delaware has a few tiny state parks. My bestie hiking buddy Judy and I visited 3 all on a Sunday morning. The parks include, Holts Landing, Fenwick Island and Savages Ditch.
Holts Landing State Park
We started our morning at Holts Landing, located at 27046 Holts Landing Road, Dagsboro, DE 19939. Holts Landing is a small but mighty state park. It includes a 2 mile hiking trail, fishing and crabbing pier, clamming, boat launch, picnic/bonfire area, playground and primitive campsites for youth groups. The parks sits on the Indian River and offers a great location for picnics and water recreation.
Fenwick Island State Park
Fenwick Island State Park located at DE-1, Fenwick Island, DE 19944, includes both ocean and bay recreation areas. Judy and I visited the Little Assawoman Bay location. The bay access includes a sweet little beach that offers a safe location for little people to swim and play in the water. This location is also perfect for launching sailboats, sailboards, canoes and kayaks.
Seashore State Park, Savages Ditch
The last stop was Savages Ditch Road, technically part of Seashore State Park. Savages Ditch sits on the Rehoboth bay. It offers a pavilion for picnics and a launching spot for kayaks. The access to the water is challenging with an uneven narrow path that floods. Once by the water, the views of the bay are worth the challenging trail.
All of these state park locations are small but worth a visit. They include spectacular views and an opportunity to enjoy the beauty and abundance that Delaware inland waterways have to offer.
