Let Us Introduce Ourselves

Hi, Girl Campers! We’re John and Leann Champlin—and we’re so excited to officially introduce ourselves as part of the Girl Camper Arizona family!

We fell head-over-heels for southeast Arizona the very first time we visited. The wide-open skies, the legendary Tombstone charm, and that unbeatable desert weather stole our hearts—and we knew right then: someday, we’d call this place home.

From Tennessee to Tombstone

Before making Tombstone our forever home, we spent 20 wonderful years in Hendersonville, Tennessee, raising our three boys and soaking up the joy of family camping. Our adventures began with an old Palomino pop-up camper and weekends filled with dirt bikes and campfire laughs.

As our sons grew and began their own journeys, John and I leaned into our next chapter together—upgrading to a 30’ toyhauler and hitting the road on our Harleys. That love for motorcycle camping is what eventually led us to Tombstone… and a dream come true.

Building a Desert Retreat

We didn’t just buy a home—we invested in our dream, piece by piece. As nearby properties became available, we expanded, creating a welcoming desert haven that continues to grow with each season.

Our first hosting experience was through The Third and Survey Shopping Society, where we connected travelers with locally grown and handmade items. Now, we’re stepping into an exciting new chapter, enhancing our hosting space and adding meaningful upgrades to give guests the most memorable and comfortable stays possible.

When the opportunity came to become a Girl Camper Hostess location, we didn’t hesitate—we said YES! We’re proud to offer our beloved “RV Parking at Third and Survey,” a 5-star rated spot known for exceptional service and heartfelt hospitality.

We provide a unique mix of dispersed boondocking spots and premium sites with electricity, all just a short walk from the heart of historic Tombstone, Arizona.

A Place Designed for Girl Campers

Whether you’re rocking a tent, truck camper, towable trailer, or motorhome, we’ve got you covered. Most of our sites accommodate rigs up to 35 feet, and we have limited space for longer Class A RVs—just give us a ring before rolling in!

We offer a fenced area to stow away towables and quick access to miles of BLM land for hiking, biking, and wandering free under Arizona’s bold blue skies.

Group-Friendly Tombstone RV Camping Experiences

Hosting small groups or large is part of the fun! We can help customize your stay with trolley tours, horseback riding, shopping discounts, food trucks, and even local storytellers for an extra bit of magic.
