In this episode, we chat about the fun – and sometimes frustrating – experiences we all encounter at the campground. From unexpected incidents with kids to issues involving gas station etiquette, our stories cover it all.
Campground Don’ts
One story from a fellow Girl Camper, Ellen, sparks a lively debate. Ellen recounts a situation where a 13-year-old boy pees a little too close to her tent. The group’s reactions were divided, with over 700 comments flooding our Facebook page. The burning question: should Ellen have spoken directly to the boy or his mother about camp etiquette?
We agreed this was a teaching moment. While some argued that boys will be boys and peeing outside is part of the adventure, we also emphasized respecting other campers’ spaces.
Gas Station Woes
Next, we tackled an explosive topic from another camper who encountered a common frustration: being blocked at a gas station by an unattended vehicle. With no driver in sight for 15 minutes, campers were split on who was in the wrong. We sided with the frustrated camper; blocking a pump without consideration for others is definitely bad camp etiquette.
River Adventures
On a lighter note, we shared our recent river trip adventures. Imagine whitewater rafting down the Green River in Utah. With first-time Girl Camper Dale experiencing the thrills (and chills) of outdoor life, it was an unforgettable trip filled with wildlife and memorable moments. Plans for next year’s river trip are underway.
