Her name is Susan but her friends call her “Q” (short for Suzi-Q).

She grew up camping on Chincoteague Island every single weekend, she knows the island well. She can’t remember camping anywhere else as a child.

Over the past 30 years her love of camping took place in Vermont State Parks, tenting and Lean-to camping with her family of 8. Hubby, 5 boys and 1 girl.

About 10 years ago Q discovered Girl Campers and joined in the fun with one of her tiny travel trailers. Q has renovated many trailers, all unique to her and her camping needs. As of right now Q has 6 trailers, all in various stages of renovation. Q is also teaching her 17-year-old daughter, Emmalynne, her camping and renovation skills as they both fix up Emma’s, new to her, 1988 Starcraft Meteor Pop Up. Q found it for a whopping $100 and it’s becoming quite the “Teen Boho Chic” fun project for the two of them to do together and Em to eventually become a Girl Camper with us.

Q says she doesn’t know where she would be without her Girl Camper friends, as they helped her through a real tough time in her life. Having the Girl Camper trips to escape to every now and then, through the rough times, helped her keep focused on what is important in life and be able to return back home and be refreshed to continue caring for her family.

At the campground you can count on at least one camp breakfast prepared and cooked by Q and also her lending a hand when a problem pops up when setting up camp….It’s what she does for her besties!
