The idea of planning a successful multigenerational RV camping trip can be daunting. Check out these tips from our founder, Janine Pettit, for a the “right stuff” needed to have a fun RV trip with the whole family.

First, start by choosing the right campground. Consider a mix of rustic state parks and resort-style campgrounds to cater to various preferences. Plan ahead to secure the best sites and ask family members for destination suggestions.

Adopt a flexible attitude; prioritize family time and be willing to adjust expectations for cleanliness and organization. Allow family members to pursue personal interests and create a game plan for shared activities, discussed at breakfast. This approach helps accommodate individual preferences while maintaining a sense of group cohesion.

For food, keep it flexible and simple. Serve easy breakfasts like muffins and fruit, and let families handle their own lunches. For dinners, assign each family a night to cook, giving everyone a break and a chance to contribute. Use a portable outdoor refrigerator for snacks and drinks to lighten the RV’s load. Simplify cleanup with an outdoor wash station for easy dishwashing.

With these strategies, multigenerational camping can be enjoyable and stress-free, creating memorable experiences for all.
