The Second Annual Girl Camper Charity Raffle is off to a great start! Last year we sold more than $61,000 in raffle tickets benefiting HoldYou Foundation, our official charity. The Grand Prize was the 2019 Off Road Mini Max that I took on my travels last year.

This year Forest River has generously donated a 2020 r-pod 196 to Girl Camper. The r-pod had its first substantial reworking since it came out over ten years ago. The r-pod is the largest selling light weight towable in the industry and we know why!! It has everything the big guys give you but weighs in at under 3,500 pounds and has a price point that makes it very consumer friendly. The new r-pod has beautiful cabinetry, convection microwave, walk around Queen sized bed, residential quality jackknife sofa bed, large pantry cabinet and it even has a central vacuum system!! When I first walked through it I was thrilled with its “good bones.” The designers kept the interior neutral using finishes that could be used as a jumping off point for any design.

We partnered with Spoonflower to take it from “Factory to Fabulous.”  Spoonflower is a fantastic company that creates custom fabrics, wallpapers and linens from your own designs. You can upload your own artwork or use any of the art other designers have already created. I chose three different designs from three different artists and installed them in our r pod 196 to give it a home feel. What is great about the Spoonflower paper is that it is very easy to install and it is also removable if you decide to go with a different aesthetic,

We created the feel of a foyer in our little r-pod. The wallpaper (Nat Geo in Folks Grey by nouveau_bohemian) reminded me of our National Parks. I changed out the hooks in the entry with some larger ones that I found at a Home decor store. This area is a great place to hang your grocery bag, dog leash, hats and keys and even a little broom to use with the r pod’s central vacuum system!

The kitchen in the 196 is impressive. The two burner propane stove has a flat surface that doubles as a cutting surface. The area is quite deep so there is room to drop groceries, prep food and use as a serving space. The sink is stainless steel, very deep and comes with a beehive swivel faucet and removable cutting surface. There is also a convection oven. lots of cabinets and drawers and a huge pantry closet.

When I first saw the 196 I couldn’t believe that beautiful furniture feel of the jackknife sofa. Not only do you get an extra bed if you want it, you get a really comfortable couch that has been upholstered with button back tufting and three separate tailored cushions. I wanted it to really feel like a home space and so I took the jackknife sofa out and had it reupholstered with an upholstery fabric that is cheerful, durable and stain resistant. I think that if you are going to own a trailer for 10 years and spend significant amounts of time exploring the country in it, you should really want to come back to it after a long day of sightseeing and feel like you are home!

I chose a pattern called Freedom Arrows by domesticate for the “bedroom” of our little home on wheels. I love the complimentary colors of the rust and navy. It was a nice compliment to our Beddy’s Bed pattern as well.  The bed in the 196 is a standard size Queen with lots of storage underneath it. On ether side of bed are nice wardrobe closets that provide lots of space for hanging clothes. The doors are frosted and when the interior closet light is turned on at night they make a pretty nightlight.

Modern Geometric by Lemonni was the winner for our bathroom paper. I love how sunny it is and it fits this bathroom that, while small, packs a punch. There is an overhead fantastic fan in the bathroom and the shower stall has a large skylight that lets in so much natural light. The lower sink has cabinet space for toiletries and the medicine cabinet has three pretty deep shelves. There’s also a towel storage shelf with bungee netting and a slightly bowed shower curtain for a little extra elbow room. The US map is a treasure of mine at home that I just had to lend to the project because it is such a great match to this wallpaper. Don’t look for it if you win the trailer though, I’m keeping it!!

The r-pod 196 went from Factory to Fabulous with the help of our partners at Spoonflower, Camco, FLI Products and of course Forest River. The Raffle officially begins today and is run through The Raffle Network, an organization that makes fundraising simpler by handling all of the legal stuff, money collection and choosing the winners. The tickets are $10 and the winner will be chosen on Valentine’s Day, 2020. This year we will have some great secondary prizes as well  so be sure to subscribe to the Girl Camper Newsletter and keep up to date. If you should be the lucky winner you will have to pick up the trailer in Indiana and get it back home! What a great excuse to visit Amish Country!!

We know everyone wants to win and the temptation is to not tell anyone about this beautiful trailer but we would really appreciate it if you told everybody and shared it wherever you can. The buttons on the page help you to do that. When you see the good work that HoldYou does and the families so in need of it, you’ll understand why we can’t help but help them!! Keep checking back to see what our other prizes will be and thanks for helping us!!
